Nottingham Forest closing in on £20 million deal for Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson
Dean Henderson is close to completing a switch to Nottingham Forest from Manchester United for £20 million this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old spent the 2022/23 term on loan at the Tricky Trees. Now, the City Ground side are interested in acquiring the goalkeeper’s services on a permanent basis in the ongoing transfer window.
Unfortunately, in the previous campaign, the English national picked up a lengthy injury at the West Bridgford-based club. Subsequently, they got Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
However, the Costa Rica international has left the club after helping Forest survive the drop to the Championship. The Tricky Trees are ready to restore Henderson as the number one in between the sticks.
Man United have developed some promising talent in their academy over the years and the shot-stopper is one of them. The 26-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side and got the opportunity to make a place for himself in the first-team
After an impressive spell on loan at Sheffield United, the Red Devils decided to integrate Henderson into the senior side. In the 2020/21 season, the English national shared minutes with David de Gea.
However, the Spaniard managed to become an undisputed starter once again and pipped him in the pecking order. Subsequently, the 26-year-old hardly featured for the Manchester-based club.
De Gea is no longer associated with Man United. However, the Red Devils are close to getting a hold of Andre Onana’s signature from Inter Milan. Tom Heaton is also at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. We have also been linked with Zion Suzuki of Urawa Reds.
