Leon Goretzka valued at £34 million by Bayern Munich amidst Manchester United interest
Bayern Munich have set a price tag of £34 million on Leon Goretzka this summer amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Sport Germany (h/t Metro).
The Bavarians are looking to raise cash to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. To that end, the Bundesliga giants are willing to listen to ‘serious’ offers for their 28-year-old midfielder.
Erik ten Hag is keen on bolstering the middle of the park this summer. While we signed Mason Mount from Chelsea recently, the gaffer wants more additions to the engine room.
To that end, Goretzka has been linked with the Red Devils. In the summer of 2022, the Dutch manager wanted to sign the Germany international, but he was keen on staying at the Allianz Arena side.
As things stand, the midfielder is happy at Bayern. However, he has failed to convince Thomas Tuchel so far. The former Chelsea manager has the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer and Ryan Gravenberch at his disposal.
The Bavarians signed Goretzka in the summer of 2018 from Schalke 04. Over the years, the midfielder has been a key player for them. However, the 28-year-old was underwhelming at the Allianz Arena side last season.
At United, Fred and Scott McTominay could be sold by the club in the coming weeks. Donny van de Beek has also not been able to find his feet at the Old Trafford side for some time now.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were Ten Hag’s go-to options in the 2022/23 term. However, despite Mount’s arrival, we will evidently need to add more numbers to the midfield in case of departures. Although, the Red Devils have youngsters like Hannibal Mejbri who could be counted on.

Goretzka is world-class box-to-box talent. But it will be interesting to see whether United will have the funds to pursue the German national’s signature.
