Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund set to be centre of attention for Manchester United
Manchester United are set to shift their focus on signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in the ongoing transfer window, according to The Guardian.
The Red Devils are close to completing a move for Andre Onana from Inter Milan. As things stand, the Cameroonian is expected to undergo his medicals after the Old Trafford side agreed to a €55 million package deal with the Nerazzurri.
Now, United will try to acquire the services of another Serie A star in Hojlund. The Red Devils are yet to put in an offer for the Denmark international. However, the Manchester-based club have held discussions with the Bergamo-based club.
Atalanta are not interested in a player-plus-cash deal for the 20-year-old. La Dea have set a price tag of €70 million on the youngster’s head. It remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will match that valuation.
Last summer, the Italian outfit signed Hojlund from Sturm Graz. Subsequently, he has become a key player for Gian Piero Gasperini at the Gewiss Stadium side.
While the Danish national has shown immense potential, his numbers are not as encouraging. In the 2022/23 term, the 20-year-old scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for the Bergamo-based club.
At United, Erik ten Hag desperately needs to be handed more depth up front. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at the gaffer’s disposal as things stand.
In the previous campaign, the former AS Monaco star was unreliable due to multiple fitness issues. We signed Wout Weghorst as cover in January for the French national.
