Andre Onana set to sign five-year Manchester United contract after Inter Milan transfer
Manchester United are set to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan on a five-year contract in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Cameroonian is expected to put pen to paper on a deal at the Old Trafford side until June 2028. Additionally, the Red Devils will also have the option to extend the shot-stopper’s terms by a further season.
It is seemingly only a matter of time now before United will officially unveil their new goalkeeper. It was ‘impossible’ for the 27-year-old to reject the Manchester-based club’s approach.
Erik ten Hag looks likely to reunite with another one of his former Ajax Amsterdam stars. Last summer, we signed Lisandro Martinez and Antony from the Eredivisie outfit.
The Argentine and Brazilian were key players for the Red Devils last season. At the Old Trafford side, the centre-back was especially pivotal and enjoyed a fruitful debut campaign.
Onana was also part of the Ajax squad that thrived under Ten Hag before signing for Inter as a free agent in the summer of 2022. The Cameroonian caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays at the Nerazzurri.
The 27-year-old showcased great composure with the ball at his feet against Manchester City in the Champions League final. Therefore, he is arguably going to be an upgrade over David de Gea in that regard.
Last season, the Spaniard was the gaffer’s first choice in between the sticks. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old was error-prone and left a lot to be desired with his distribution. At the end of last month, the former Atletico Madrid star’s contract with the Red Devils concluded.
