Real Betis and FC Twente eye Manchester United forward Facundo Pellistri on loan
Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri is being eyed by Real Betis and FC Twente on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to Uruguayan reporter Fabian Bertolini on Twitter (h/t The Sun).
But before sending the Uruguay international on a temporary move away this summer, the club are planning to tie him down to a new contract. The 21-year-old’s existing deal with the Old Trafford side runs until June 2025.
United want to send the youngster out on loan to further his development. The forward putting pen to paper on fresh terms and then playing his football elsewhere for the 2023/24 term are seen as the next steps by the Red Devils in the player’s career.
Pellistri joined the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2020 from Penarol. Subsequently, he spent time at Deportivo Alaves for 18 months before returning last summer.
However, in the previous campaign, the Uruguayan found game time at the club hard to come by. Erik ten Hag did end up giving the forward a few opportunities. However, the 21-year-old was mostly a bit-part player.
At United last season, Antony was trusted by the Dutch manager to feature heavily on the right-hand side of the attack. The Brazil international did suffer a few injuries, though. But Pellistri was an afterthought, with Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho featuring on the right wing as well.
The Red Devils can also call upon Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. Ten Hag had to rely on the England international to find the back of the net on a consistent basis in the previous campaign.

Pellistri put in some decent displays when the gaffer called upon him. However, the Uruguayan evidently needs to play regularly. Therefore, it would be wise to send him to either Betis or Twente, who will both be playing in European competitions next season.
