Former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea top target for Sevilla to replace Yassine Bounou
Sevilla have identified former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea as the top target if Yassine Bounou were to leave this summer, according to todofichajes.
As things stand, the Morocco international is the first choice in between the sticks at the Andalusian club. However, the La Liga outfit need to raise money. To that end, the 32-year-old could be sold by them in the ongoing transfer window.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are one of the teams who have Bounou on their radar. The Spanish side are looking to get around €30 million from the goalkeeper’s sale.
If the Moroccan does end up departing Sevilla, De Gea is open to making a move. The Spaniard is also willing to lower his salary to play in La Liga again.
United signed the 32-year-old from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. The veteran goalkeeper spent over a decade at the Old Trafford side and was a valuable servant for us, winning the Premier League and other domestic and European silverware.
Bounou has emerged as an impressive shot-stopper in the last few years. The Moroccan caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances in the 2022 World Cup. Last season, the 32-year-old won the Europa League with Sevilla.
At the moment, the Andalusian club have Marko Dmitrovic in their ranks as well. However, they will have to bolster their goalkeeping ranks if they lose their number one.
De Gea is arguably still one of the best shot-stoppers out there. The Spaniard pulled off some spectacular saves at United in the previous campaign and kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League.

However, the 32-year-old left a lot to be desired with the ball at his feet, which seemingly went against the veteran as Erik ten Hag evidently wants to play out from the back. However, if Sevilla do get him, they will have a quality goalkeeper at their disposal.
