Robin Koch rejected Manchester United offer to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan
Leeds United loanee Robin Koch rejected an offer from Manchester United this summer to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a temporary move, according to Bild (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils were interested in acquiring the services of the Germany international in the ongoing transfer window. However, the defence instead decided to move back home and sign for the Bundesliga outfit.
Eintracht got a hold of the 26-year-old’s signature on a season-long loan. However, with his contract at the Peacocks expiring next summer, the centre-back is expected to become a permanent addition at the Deutsche Bank Park side.
Apart from Man United, Newcastle United also put a bid on the table to get a hold of Koch. However, the defender was keen on returning to Germany.
The centre-back had previously spent a few seasons at Freiburg before making his way to Leeds in the summer of 2020. However, the 26-year-old got relegated with the Peacocks in the previous campaign.
It is understandable that Koch chose Eintracht. The German outfit finished seventh in the Bundesliga in the 2022/23 term. They lost their main centre-back Evan Ndicka this summer. Therefore, the 26-year-old will seemingly find regular game time at Die Adler.
At Man United, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were Erik ten Hag’s first-choice pairing in the backline in his first year in charge. The Argentine and French nationals formed a solid partnership last season.
We also have Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in our ranks. Although, the two have fallen down the pecking order since the Dutch manager’s arrival. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see either of them leave the club in the coming weeks.

If any of our centre-backs were to leave, we would evidently need to add reinforcements. Koch would have been a decent option on loan. However, the Old Trafford side will now need to focus on other targets instead if need be.
