Napoli chief feels PSG only team that could afford Manchester United target Victor Osimhen
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, believes Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are the only team who could afford Manchester United target Victor Osimhen this summer.
The Red Devils have had the Nigeria international on their radar for some time now and continue to monitor him. However, there is a lot of competition for the 24-year-old’s signature, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich linked with him as well.
As things stand, Osimhen is tied down to the Partenopei until June 2025. To that end, the Serie A giants value him highly. Speaking to Mediaset (h/t Manchester Evening News), De Laurentiis expects the striker to stay at the Naples-based club unless PSG make a massive offer.

“The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain. If Nasser Al Khelaifi [PSG president] wants to send in a bid around €200m (£170m)… we wait and we see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here.”
United are one of the biggest institutions in football. So to think that we cannot afford the best players is a bit insulting. However, considering the ongoing takeover saga at the club and the Financial Fair Play (FFP) situation, it is understandable.
Osimhen has grown from strength to strength at Napoli. The Nigerian was their talisman as the Partenopei lifted the Serie A after over three decades. Therefore, it is not a surprise to see the Italian outfit demanding a lot to part ways with the 24-year-old.
PSG are known for spending a lot of money. They have the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their ranks. This summer, the departure of Lionel Messi has weakened their attack to a certain extent. The Parisians do not have a lot of established forwards in their ranks to replace the Argentine.

As for United, Anthony Martial is the only natural number nine at Erik ten Hag’s disposal right now. The French national was unreliable in the previous campaign due to his injuries.

A player like Osimhen would arguably make us a better team. Hopefully, Napoli will keep a hold of the Nigerian this summer. Then, it will be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford side will have the funds to get the striker.
