Manchester United hold talks with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United have held initial talks with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat regarding a move in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.
The Red Devils are interested in acquiring the Morocco international’s services this summer. To that end, the Old Trafford side are ‘very closely’ monitoring the midfielder.
As things stand, nothing is advanced regarding his switch to Man United. However, in the coming weeks, the saga could accelerate and the 26-year-old’s arrival could become the talking point at the Manchester-based club.

However, the Red Devils are not the only team eyeing Amrabat. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also have the Moroccan on their radar. But nothing is concrete between the Bavarians and the midfielder either at this stage.
The midfielder has established himself as one of the best enforcers in the game in recent months. Last season, the 26-year-old caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays in the 2022 World Cup.
Amrabat was a key player for Fiorentina as well in the previous campaign. The Florence-based club made it to the UEFA Europa Conference League final but lost to West Ham United.
At Man United, Casemiro has made the number six position his own. The Brazilian defensive midfielder has brought much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ engine room.
However, in the former Real Madrid star’s absence, Scott McTominay and Fred were unable to provide decent cover last season. We have already added Mason Mount to our ranks. The England international looks to be an upgrade over Christian Eriksen.

However, Casemiro was arguably the most important player for Erik ten Hag last season. Therefore, it would be a surprise to see Amrabat come in and pip the 31-year-old in the pecking order. Thus, will the Moroccan want to potentially play backup to the Brazilian at the Old Trafford side? Only time will tell.
