Manchester United not ‘actively looking’ to sell £50 million-rated Harry Maguire this summer
Harry Maguire, who is valued at £50 million by Manchester United, is not being touted in the market by the club this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils are not ‘actively looking’ to part ways with the England international in the ongoing transfer window. If the defender were to leave, the Old Trafford side realise that they would need to reinforce their backline.
As things stand, United provisionally planned to sell the centre-back at the start of 2023. However, the Red Devils’ price tag on the 30-year-old is unlikely to be matched by any team.
Maguire made his way to the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2019 from Leicester City. The defender still has two years left on his current contract. However, the English national is not the same player he was a few years back.
The centre-back’s form has taken a massive dip as time has gone by at United. Subsequently, in the previous campaign, the 30-year-old lost his place in the starting lineup.
Erik ten Hag preferred Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the defence. The two World Cup winners formed a formidable partnership for us.
Victor Lindelof also made a place for himself in the gaffer’s plans later on in the season. The Swedish national seems to be the former Ajax head coach’s first-choice backup option for the centre-back position.
Luke Shaw also played as a central defender on occasions in the previous campaign despite Magure being available. Therefore, it does not look encouraging for the former Leicester star at United.

However, it will be interesting to see what the defender is looking for regarding his future. The English national is still a starter for Gareth Southgate. But how long that will last is anybody’s guess. Is the 30-year-old’s stint at the Old Trafford side in its final stretch? Only time will tell.
