Erik ten Hag keen on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat reunion at Manchester United
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen on reuniting with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat in the ongoing transfer window, according to Football Transfers (h/t Express).
The Dutch manager has shifted his focus on the Morocco international after failing to sign Declan Rice, who is set to join Arsenal, and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
As a result, the Red Devils have the Viola’s 26-year-old on their radar this summer. The midfielder’s current contract with the Florence-based club is set to expire next summer.
To that end, the Old Trafford side will have to pay the Serie A outfit £20 million to acquire the services of Amrabat. We have already added Mason Mount from Chelsea to our ranks recently.
Fiorentina signed Amrabat in 2020. Over the years, the Moroccan has been pivotal to the Viola’s ranks. However, last season, the midfielder caught a lot of people’s attention.
The 26-year-old starred for the Florence-based club as they made it to the UEFA Europa Conference League final. He was also essential to Walid Regragui’s plans as the Atlas Lions made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Amrabat previously played under Ten Hag during his formative years at FC Utrecht. Since then, the midfielder has grown from strength to strength. If we do end up signing him, the Moroccan would seemingly be cover for Casemiro in the team.
The Brazil international added much-needed quality to the number six position at the Old Trafford side. However, the Old Trafford side do not have an adequate backup in the squad in the absence of the former Real Madrid star.

However, Amrabat will arguably not want to play second-fiddle, even if it is at a prestigious club like United. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Ten Hag will be able to get the 26-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams.
