Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat resists Saudi Pro League offer
Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat has knocked back an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in favour of continuing his career in European Football
According to the Sun Live, Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat has resisted a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli in favour of European football next season.
The Red Devils have reportedly reignited their interest in the Fiorentina midfielder, but clubs in Saudi Arabia are now attempting to entice the Moroccan star to join their ranks.
Amrabat’s reputation skyrocketed following his impressive performances for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup, leading to links with various moves during the January transfer window. However, Fiorentina rejected any potential sale mid-season.
United were among the clubs interested in Amrabat, but they ultimately signed Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich instead. The Serie A ace made 49 appearances across all competitions for his parent club last season. He played a crucial role in Fiorentina’s journey to the UEFA Conference League final.
According to recent reports from the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have revived their interest in the 26-year-old. However, Amrabat has also received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
The Middle Eastern clubs have been making significant moves in the transfer market, with renowned players like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Neves joining their ranks. These clubs are financially capable, and money is unlikely to be an issue for them.
But the defensive midfielder wants to continue playing in Europe and has, hence, resisted moving to the middle east.
Fiorentina are prepared to sell Amrabat for a relatively low fee of £30 million, making him an attractive option for interested parties. Acquiring the African star at this price would be considered a bargain for any club pursuing his services.
United have been eyeing options in their search for a deeper-lying midfielder, especially after securing the signing of more attack-minded player Mason Mount. However, they have not started any negotiations with Fiorentina for Amrabat.
The defensive midfielder would serve as an excellent alternative to Casemiro, providing Erik ten Hag with the opportunity to rotate and keep the Brazilian midfielder fresh for important matches. The Moroccan star’s arrival would be a sensible addition to the team considering that the current options, Scott McTomnay and Fred, could leave the club this summer.
However, keeping in mind United’s limited budget, a move for Amrabat currently appears to be financially out of reach. The Red Devils currently have other priorities in the transfer market, with a deal for Andre Onana close.

Even if Amrabat ends up moving to any other club, it would not heavily impact United’s plans. In fact, it could create opportunities for talented academy graduates like Kobbie Mainoo to make surprise appearances FOR the first team. It’s not a situation that the fans should be overly worried about.
