Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign Paulo Dybala from AS Roma amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Metro).

The Giallorossi signed the Argentina international as a free agent last summer. As things stand, the forward’s current contract with the Serie A giants includes a £10 million release clause.

To that end, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur head coach wants the Blues to consider a move for the 29-year-old in the ongoing transfer window.

Pochettino likes his compatriot. The West London club have already ‘asked for more information‘ regarding Dybala as they assess acquiring the World Cup winner’s services.

However, Chelsea will face competition from the Red Devils for the forward’s signature. Spurs and teams in Saudi Arabia also have the 29-year-old on their radar.

The Blues have parted ways with Kai Havertz, who has joined Arsenal this summer. However, the Stamford Bridge side have completed the signings of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.

On the other hand, United lack options in the centre-forward area. Anthony Martial is the only natural option in our ranks for now. In January, the Red Devils got Wout Weghorst on loan to provide cover up front due to the French national’s fitness problems.

Erik ten Hag also used Marcus Rashford as the striker on several occasions last season. The 25-year-old had to shoulder the burden of our attack in the 2022/23 term. Therefore, we could evidently do with more depth in the number nine position.

Dybala’s pedigree has dwindled a bit over the years. Injuries have not helped his cause. However, the Argentine has revived his stature at Roma. It will be interesting to see whether the 29-year-old will leave Italy for the PL in the coming weeks.
