West Ham eyeing a move for Scott Mctominay as a replacement for Declan Rice
As per Talksport (h/t Manchester Evening News), West Ham United are eyeing a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay during this summer window.
The Hammers are looking to replace Declan Rice, who is a target for several top Premier League clubs with Arsenal and Manchester City leading the race.
The report reveals that United boss Erik ten Hag is open to letting McTominay go. He also wants to sell Fred because the Brazilian’s contract expires next summer.
Coming back to McTominay, the Scotland international played only 1688 minutes of football for United in ten Hag’s first season in charge of the team.
The Dutchman has preferred the pairing of Casemiro with either Christian Eriksen or Fred. At times, we have seen the former operating as a lone number with Bruno Fernandes floating as an attacking number eight.
McTominay, 26, was more or less a regular starter under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It seems like ten Hag does not fancy having the Scotsman in his regular XI.
When that is the case, it is always good to let the player go to a club that can offer him the game time he deserves.
United should use the money they get from player sales to make key signings. They should complete the Mason Mount deal with ten Hag keen on the Chelsea star.
They also have to do everything they can to sign a striker. Without that, there is no chance the team improves on the performances of the 2022/23 season.

Lastly, on McTominay, if he leaves the club this summer (he should), we wish him the best in his future endeavours. He has been a good pro for United but not good enough to make it to the top.
