Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek offered to Jose Mourinho’s Roma amid potential exit rumours
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are open to the idea of loaning out Donny van de Beek to Serie A giants AS Roma as they find ways to carve out a move for the Dutch midfielder.
The Red Devils are in need of player sales to boost their chances of raising funds for additional transfers. However, it would be easier for them if they started the entire outgoing process as soon as possible.
Van de Beek’s time at Old Trafford was nothing short of a see-saw ride. He has been unable to storm into Erik ten Hag’s starting XI and has been kept on the bench on a number of occasions.
The 26-year-old joined the English giants in the summer of 2020 with a huge responsibility on his shoulders, which is to help United solve their midfield woes.
The former Ajax player was one of the best box-to-box midfielders during that time, and hence, a move seemed to be the right choice.
However, after failing to make an impact under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the fans hoped that Ten Hag’s arrival would boost his chances of playing regularly for United. But it has been the exact opposite.
Van de Beek has racked up just two goals and provided two assists in over 60 appearances for the Red Devils. Last season, the Dutch star was fit to play in the first half of the campaign.
However, he suffered another bad injury when Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi threw an ugly tackle on him on January 3rd. The 26-year-old didn’t return again in the second half of the season, and he would have wished to push himself once more by having a good preseason.
Still, Man United believes that sending the player on loan to their former manager, Jose Mourinho, would be the wise choice for both parties involved. It’s been no secret that Mourinho has been a fan of our players.
The manager signed former United players Chris Smalling, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Nemanja Matic as Roma coach. All of these players have played a crucial role under Mourinho.
The Serie A giants would be planning for another busy transfer window, but with limited spending. The Giallorossi recently secured the signings of Houssem Aouar and Evan Ndicka on free transfers.
In our opinion, a loan move seems to be the best possible solution since Roma are highly unlikely to spend cash on a player who has two years left on his contract. Also, it would be risky to sign a player who has recently returned from an injury spell.
This could be a wise move for the Red Devils since they would be happy to release some pressure off their wage books and comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
This would in turn be a blessing in disguise for Van de Beek, who could have a chance to revive his career in Italy. Although we believe that the Dutch star should work on his fitness if he wants to grab any more chances of returning to the field.

It is now or never for the 26-year-old. Man United have started to bid for new midfielders, and this could make things difficult for the player. The Dutch maestro should either push for a fresh challenge on a temporary deal or move away permanently from the club.
