Rio Ferdinand urges Manchester United to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has urged the Old Trafford side to make a move for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster the engine room in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Santiago Bernabeu side’s quality in depth in the middle of the park could lead to the France international popping up on a few teams’ radars.
Speaking Vibe with Five on YouTube (h/t Mirror), Ferdinand, who spent 12 years at United, would be delighted to see a player of the 23-year-old’s quality move to the Manchester-based club.
“In midfield, you know who I would go and get? I would go try get Tchouameni. He is the one who doesn’t play, he is the odd man out at the minute. Massive improvement.”
Madrid signed Tchouameni in the summer of 2022 from AS Monaco. The French national was seemingly a replacement for Casemiro, who signed for the Red Devils in the same window.
The midfielder’s stint at Los Blancos went off to an impressive start. He was ever-present in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting lineup initially. However, the 23-year-old’s fortunes changed after the 2022 World Cup.
Tchouameni shone in Qatar for Les Bleus as well. He featured in every game at the prestigious tournament as Didier Deschamps’ team reached the final but lost to Argentina on penalties.
Since then, the French national has put in some indifferent performances The Santiago Bernabeu side have the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and newly signed Jude Bellingham in their ranks.
At United, Casemiro’s addition to the squad last summer turned out to be inspiring. The Brazilian added much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ engine room. However, we could evidently still do with more talent in midfield.

Therefore, a move for Tchouameni seemingly looks like a wise move. However, it remains to be seen whether Madrid will be willing to part ways with the France international after just one season.
