Chelsea to be ‘flexible’ on Mason Mount deal as Manchester United prepare another bid
Premier League rivals Chelsea have decided to be ‘flexible’ regarding a deal for Manchester United target Mason Mount, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Blues rejected the Old Trafford side’s second bid for the England international. However, the Red Devils intend to make a third approach for the midfielder soon.
As things stand, the playmaker’s current contract with the Stamford Bridge side is set to expire at the end of next season. To that end, the 24-year-old is not planning to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

Instead, Mount has agreed personal terms with United. The Manchester-based club want to get the deal over the line as soon as possible. However, the Old Trafford side do not want to pay over the top for the English national.
The midfielder made his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea. Over the years, the 24-year-old has developed into one of the Blues’ best players. But now, the West London club are willing to accept £60–£65 million for the playmaker.
Chelsea invested heavily in their squad in the previous two transfer windows. Subsequently, Mount lost his place in the Blues’ starting lineup last season.
In the middle of the park, United relied heavily on the partnership of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge. The two formed an impressive pairing in the Old Trafford side’s engine room.
However, the Danish national looked a bit fatigued towards the end of the season. The 31-year-old struggled to complete the 90 minutes in many of the matches.

Therefore, adding Mount to the squad seems like a wise move. The English national has been underwhelming in the last few months. However, there is a quality player inside him. It remains to be seen how much the Old Trafford side will have to bid to convince Chelsea to sell the 24-year-old.
