Napoli striker Victor Osimhen price tag discourages Manchester United move
Manchester United have been put off a potential deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer due to the price tag on his head, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Partenopei are looking for £120 million to part ways with the Nigeria international in the ongoing transfer window. As a result, the Red Devils are discouraged by the Italian outfit’s demands for their striker.
In the summer of 2020, the Naples-based club signed the 24-year-old from LOSC Lille. His current contract with the Serie A giants is set to run until June 2025.
Over the years, Osimhen has been impressive at Napoli. However, the Nigerian took his game to the next level in the 2022/23 campaign, as he inspired the Partenopei to their first Scudetto in over three decades.
Luciano Spalletti’s team were a lot better than their competition in the league. Their striker played a key part in their success as he found the back on a consistent basis.
The 24-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants last season. He scored 31 goals and provided five assists. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Italian outfit are asking for a premium to sell their talisman.
United seemingly need a new number nine this summer. Erik ten Hag had Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst in the second half of the previous campaign.
The French national has been on the sidelines a lot since the Dutch manager’s arrival in the Old Trafford side’s dugout. As a result, the Burnley loanee featured heavily for the Red Devils in the last few months. But the 30-year-old is clearly not up to our standards.

Therefore, we seemingly need to add a world-class striker to our ranks. In the current market, it is not wise for United to expect to get a quality player on the cheap. Hopefully, the hierarchy will back Ten Hag and cough up the money to strengthen the team.
