Nottingham Forest not keen on £25 million price tag on Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson
Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest are not keen on paying £25 million for Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
However, the Tricky Trees are still confident that they will be able to come to an agreement with the Red Devils to acquire the England international’s services this summer.
The 26-year-old spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the City Ground side. Now, the West Bridgford-based club want to keep a hold of the promising goalkeeper.
Henderson made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side. However, the shot-stopper could be on his way, with a deal expected to be quickly wrapped up after David de Gea puts pen to paper on fresh terms.
The English national looked like the next number one for Man United after his promising stint with Sheffield United. In the 2020/21 campaign, the 26-year-old even shared minutes in between the sticks with the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper at the Red Devils.
But the Spaniard retained his spot in the starting lineup, leaving Henderson without regular minutes. At Forest, the shot-stopper shone in the first half of the campaign.
Unfortunately, an injury has hampered the English national’s game time over the last few months. But with Keylor Navas, who signed for the Tricky Trees on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January, the City Ground side managed to survive the drop.
De Gea has been preferred by Erik ten Hag in between the sticks at Man United. However, the Spaniard has been error-prone. The 32-year-old also leaves a lot to be desired with his distribution.

Henderson is seemingly a decent backup option. If Forest are not willing to pay the Old Trafford side the required fee, it would evidently not be such a bad thing to hold on to the 26-year-old.
