Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat looking for transfer to top team amidst Manchester United links
Sofyan Amrabat, who currently plays for Fiorentina, is looking for a move to a top team this summer amidst links to Manchester United.
The Morocco international was in fine form in the 2022/23 season and caught a lot of people’s attention. Apart from the Red Devils, the midfielder is also on the radar of Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona.
Speaking to ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News), former Watford forward Nordin Amrabat, the brother of Sofyan, left the door open for the 26-year-old’s move to the Old Trafford side considering his relationship with Erik ten Hag.
“But my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think. Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.
“But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother. He broke through under him and they have a good relationship, so who knows.”
The Moroccan made his way through the youth ranks at FC Utrecht. Back then, the midfielder was managed by the Dutch manager for some time.
After playing for the likes of Feyenoord and Club Brugge, Sofyan signed for Fiorentina. At the Viola, the midfielder has gone from strength to strength and has developed into an impressive enforcer.
But it was the Moroccan’s displays in the 2022 World Cup that showcased his talent to a large audience. The Atlas Lions made it to the semi-finals in Qatar and the 26-year-old was pivotal in Walid Regragui’s team’s success.
Ten Hag relied on Casemiro for most of the 2022/23 season. The former Ajax head coach also called upon the likes of Scott McTominay on occasions. But the two have been inconsistent over the years.
The Dutch manager has found success by reuniting with his former players in Manchester, namely Lisandro Martinez and Antony. Both of them have been pivotal to the gaffer’s plans in the last few months.
