Donny van de Beek to ‘explore options’ regarding Manchester United exit
Manchester United star Donny van de Beek is set to explore his options in the upcoming transfer window regarding a move away, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Holland international admires the Red Devils as well as Erik ten Hag. However, the midfielder wants to play more and get regular minutes next season.
As a result, the 26-year-old could leave the Old Trafford side in the coming weeks. He has been on the sidelines for some time now but is set to return to action for the pre-season.
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 from Ajax Amsterdam. The midfielder has thrived under Ten Hag at the Eredivisie outfit. In the Netherlands, he had become a key player for De Godenzonen and had showcased immense potential.
Unfortunately, things have not gone to plan for the Holland international at the Old Trafford side. In his debut campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hardly gave the 26-year-old an opportunity to make a place for himself in the team.
Subsequently, Van de Beek fell out of favour last season and opted to join Everton on loan in January 2022 for a short spell. But injuries hampered his time at the Goodison Park side.
The Holland international has faced several fitness issues in the current campaign as well and has been unable to make a place for himself in the former Ajax head coach’s plans.
Last summer, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were added to United’s engine room. The two have been the go-to players for the Dutch manager in the Red Devils’ starting lineup.

Therefore, there is a ton of competition for places at the Old Trafford side. It seems best for both parties to part ways with each other at this stage, considering Van de Beek’s stint so far in Manchester.
