Brighton & Hove Albion want more than £70 million for Manchester United target Moises Caicedo

Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion want ‘significantly’ more than £70 million for Manchester United target Moises Caicedo, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required).

The Red Devils are one of the teams interested in the Ecuador international ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Arsenal and Chelsea also have him on their radar, with Liverpool also in the race.

The two London-based clubs wanted to acquire the 21-year-old’s services in January. However, the Seagulls were not keen on parting ways with their midfielder back then.

Caicedo has gone from strength to strength since making his way to East Sussex from Independiente del Valle. In the second half of last season under Graham Potter, the Ecuadorian established himself in the Amex Stadium side’s starting lineup.

Since then, the 21-year-old has been ever-present in Brighton’s team. The Seagulls have managed to impress many with their performances under Roberto De Zerbi and are set to play in the Europa League next season.

Caicedo has been a pivotal part of the Seagulls’ success. The tenacious midfielder has been the Amex Stadium side’s enforcer and has also shown his versatility playing as a right-back on occasions.

United’s engine room was bolstered with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have been Erik ten Hag’s go-to pairing in the midfield double pivot.

However, in their absence, the Red Devils’ quality in depth seems a bit light. Fred and Scott McTominay have left a lot to be desired at times when the Dutch manager has called upon them.

Caicedo has the talent and the potential to become world-class. With some of our midfielders on the wrong side of 30, it is wise to add more youth to our ranks.
