Borussia Dortmund eyeing Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri as replacement for Jude Bellingham
Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri has been identified by Borussia Dortmund as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham, according to German broadcaster HL-1 (h/t Birmingham Live).
The England international, who is currently playing in Germany, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window. As things stand, the 19-year-old is expected to wear the Los Blancos’ jersey next season.
To that end, the Bundesliga outfit are eyeing reinforcements to their engine room. The Red Devils’ 20-year-old Tunisian is one of the names on the Signal Iduna Park side’s radar.
At the moment, the 20-year-old’s future at the Old Trafford side is uncertain. The midfielder could be sold by the Manchester-based club in the coming months.
Hannibal made his way through the youth ranks at United. He has mostly played for the Red Devils’ reserve teams up until now. However, having joined Birmingham City on a temporary move last summer, the youngster has thrived as of late.
The Tunisia international spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at the Championship outfit. Under John Eustace, the midfielder regularly featured for the Blues and became a key player.
In 41 appearances for the St Andrew’s side, the 20-year-old found the back of the net one time and provided six assists. Olympique Marseille are also interested in him.
United’s midfield consists of the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Fred, who are all in their 30s. Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have also been at the club for some time now but have been unable to perform consistently.

Therefore, we could evidently do with some fresh blood in the middle of the park. Hannibal is coming off of a decent spell with Birmingham and is an in-house option for us to reinforce our ranks. However, Dortmund have a pedigree of developing young talents. Therefore, will the Tunisian leave the Old Trafford side? Only time will tell.
