As per Evening Standard, Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs to have sent their scouts to keep a close eye on Gent striker Gift Orban.

London clubs Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham are the other English clubs interested in the 20-year-old.

Orban, who arrived at Gent from Norwegian club Stabaek this January, is a Nigerian youth international.

He has hit the ground running in Belgium and scored 19 goals and assisted two in 19 appearances in all competitions for Gent.

Although a lot of clubs are interested in him, Gent are in no rush to sell unless there is a big offer on the table. The player himself is keen to stay in Belgium for now, having signed a contract till 2027 there (Transfermarkt).

These sentiments are understandable given this is Orban’s first proper breakthrough in European football. He might want to contribute a lot more for Gent before potentially leaving for a bigger club in the continent.

As stated by United boss Erik ten Hag a few weeks ago, the Red Devils need a number nine this summer. The Dutchman talked about having a player who can finish off the situations created by the playmakers in the side.

With the ownership situation still in the air, ten Hag would ideally want it to be resolved before the start of the summer window. The former Ajax boss has made it clear that he would like backing from the board to help him sign his top targets in the market.

England captain and scoring sensation Harry Kane was earmarked by the 53-year-old. It remains to be seen whether United can offer a contract that cannot be turned down by the Spurs talisman.
