Manchester United-linked Youri Tielemans ‘will leave’ Leicester City next summer

Youri Tielemans, who has been linked with Manchester United, ‘will leave’ Leicester City in the upcoming transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Belgium international’s current contract with the Foxes is set to expire at the end of the season. As a result, the 26-year-old will be available as a free agent next summer.

However, as of yet, the midfielder has not decided on his next destination. The former AS Monaco star has several offers on the table. But he is focused on the King Power Stadium side until the conclusion of the campaign.

Leicester are in a relegation battle as things stand. The Foxes have struggled for results in the Premier League this season. Thus, they are fighting to keep their English top-flight status intact.

With the final two matches of the campaign to go in the league, the King Power Stadium side are in 18th place. Despite their poor form, some of their players have still shone, like Tielemans.

The Belgian joined Leicester in January 2019 and has since then been a key player for them. In 2021, the Foxes won the FA Cup under Brendan Rodgers.

As for United, we signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have been impressive. However, when the Denmark international was on the sidelines, we had to get Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich in January to add depth to the middle of the park.

The Austrian was an inspiring addition to the Red Devils’/ squad in the previous transfer window. Apart from the 29-year-old, Erik ten Hag has had Fred and Scott McTominay at his disposal over the last few months, but they have been inconsistent.

Therefore, adding more quality to the engine room is seemingly something we should think about. It is not always that a player of Tielemans’ talent is available on a free transfer. But it remains to be seen where the midfielder will end up in the coming months.
