Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi admits Manchester United-linked Alexis Mac Allister could leave next summer.

The Argentina international has been in fine form this season and has come into his own under the Italian manager at the Seagulls. As a result, the Red Devils have been associated with the 24-year-old’s signature.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, De Zerbi confessed that the Amex Stadium side would have to part ways with some of their players who have done well in the current campaign.

“Of course we will lose some players – maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister.”

Mac Allister joined Brighton in January 2019. Over the years, the midfielder has slowly developed himself at the East Sussex-based club.

Last season, the 24-year-old established himself in the Seagulls’ starting lineup. However, the Argentina international has taken his game to the next level in the current campaign.

Mac Allister also showcased his talents at the biggest international stage, the World Cup. In Qatar, the midfielder was a pivotal player for Lionel Scaloni’s team as they went all the way in the competition and lifted the prestigious trophy.

United’s midfield was bolstered with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have mostly been impressive in their short time at the Manchester-based club.

However, when the Denmark international was on the sidelines, Erik ten Hag had to turn to the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay, who have not been the most reliable. Marcel Sabitzer has been decent, but the Austrian will return to Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone of Mac Allister’s ilk in our ranks. However, it remains to be seen whether the Argentine will join the Old Trafford side next summer.
