Everton eye ambitious move for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Premier League rivals Everton are eyeing an ambitious move for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Il Mattino (h/t The Sun).
The Toffees are one of the clubs interested in the Nigeria international. However, there are several other top teams that will evidently make it difficult for the Goodison Park side in their pursuit of the forward.
Apart from the Red Devils, Newcastle United and Chelsea are the other sides in the English top flight looking to acquire the 24-year-old’s services. European giants Paris Saint-Germain also have him on their radar.
Osimhen has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays in the current campaign. The Nigerian has been the Partenopei’s talisman in a season where they have secured the Scudetto after 33 years.
The striker has shown his prolificity for the Naples-based club. In the 2022/23 campaign, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net 28 times in 35 appearances in all competitions.
Everton are currently fighting for survival in the PL. The Toffees are in a relegation battle in the league. With the departure of Richarlison last summer and the fitness issues of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Goodison Park side have not had a reliable number nine this season.
On the other hand, Man United have also struggled for a natural striker. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are the only options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.
Marcus Rashford has been the Red Devils’ only outlet that the gaffer has been able to count on. Unfortunately, our other attackers have been underwhelming in terms of their contribution in the final third.

At the moment, the Old Trafford side have an advantage over ‘everyone’ in the race for Osimhen. It will be a big surprise if Everton somehow manage to pip the Manchester-based club to the Nigerian’s signature.
