Former Manchester United player Louis Saha has urged Manchester United to sign AC Milan’s Rafael Leao
Saha believes that the club is going in the right direction and a lot of top players will be eager to join a team that is on the rise. Leao is one name that Saha admits could be a great signing for United in addition to making the highly important signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’d like to see Man Utd sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao, I like him a lot. There are many players out there. But really I have only one name in mind who makes sense, and I believe no matter what the price Man Utd should sign Kane, there is no mistake out there.
It doesn’t mean Man Utd can’t go looking for younger players too, who can learn from experienced players. But for any young player, who has potential and wants to win trophies, should have a big look at Man Utd.
Leao, like Kane, will be entering the final year of his contract at Milan and if they fail to land a Champions League spot, it could provide a window of opportunity for clubs to swoop in. The Portuguese, still 23, has time on his side to develop into a lethal inside forward and has already shown glimpses of his immense talent with the Italian side.
This season alone, he has contributed to 13 goals and 13 assists in all competitions with his amazing run against Napoli in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final providing everyone with a chance to see what the player is about.
While it would be good to see Leao in a United jersey, it would indeed mean some reduced game time for Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.
Especially for Garnacho, who has had a breakthrough season with United this term, it could halt his development with reduced minutes if the Portuguese is signed. Of course, Leao strengthens us in the present but we have already invested heavily in wingers. It is best to stick with them and invest money in other positions – such as a striker.
On the other hand, there are claims that the forward is close to agreeing on a new contract with Milan and all efforts could turn futile in the end. If the 23-year-old pens fresh terms at San Siro, one can imagine signing the 2021-22 Serie A MVP will be a very hard task.

Rather it would be wise for the club to be ready with the targets before the window opens up and utilize the time properly, unlike last summer, to get the desired players which can help us notch up a level.
