Inter Milan are ready to sell Manchester United target Lautaro Martinez in the summer in order to raise funds
According to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Inter Milan are ready to sell their star striker Lautaro Martinez in order to raise funds for the upcoming transfer window.
Inter are in a bit of a financial midst and need to raise funds in order to have sustainability on and off the pitch. They are currently fourth in the league but there is only a difference of two points between them and seventh-placed Atalanta.
It is no guarantee yet that they will secure European football unless they do beat AC Milan in the Champions League semi-final and then win the cup.
However, if the above situation does not materliase and the club misses on European qualification for next season, it could lead to a pretty impressive market option for top clubs to prise away their key players.
Martinez, who has scored 21 goals and given 8 assists till now for Inter could be one of the casualties, with United deemed to be interested in securing the service of the Argentine who could be available for around £70m.
Martinez has performed exceptionally for Inter over the past few years and was a key factor in the team winning the Scudetto in 2020/21 season.
He is definitely their main man upfront and could be a shrewd signing for United if the club advances their interest. We are in search of a proper nine this summer and it is one of the main priorities for the upcoming window. While names such as Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have been constantly linked with the club, Martinez could be a surprising pick of the lot.
With his off-possession game also suited to the way Erik ten Hag wants his forwards to operate, it is a possibility that he could do very well at Old Trafford. Inter’s financial difficulties also play very well into our hands.

It remains to be seen what direction the club will take in terms of their search for a striker but the links to Martinez are certainly one to keep an eye on. The 25-year-old is getting as he gets older and hopefully, we get to see the Argentina international’s prime years unfurl at Old Trafford.
