Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia shot-stopper Dominik Livakovic being eyed as backup by Manchester United
Manchester United are eyeing Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia shot-stopper Dominik Livakovic as an option to be the backup goalkeeper, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils have been scouting the 28-year-old and watched him play against Hajduk Split in the league on Sunday (30 April). Igor Biscan’s team were healed to a 0-0 draw.
At the moment, David de Gea is the number one at the Old Trafford side. However, the Manchester-based club are currently in discussions with the Spaniard over a new contract. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
If the 32-year-old were to extend his stay at United, Dean Henderson is expected to depart. The England international is on loan at Nottingham Forest and will return to the Red Devils at the conclusion of the campaign.
Tom Heaton and Jack Butland are the other options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal for now in the goalkeeping department. However, the two have uncertain futures at the Old Trafford side.
Therefore, we will evidently need to add another shot-stopper to the ranks in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, Livakovic is being looked at to act as a number two.
Dinamo Zagreb signed the Croatia international in the summer of 2015. Over the years, he has been ever-present in the Maksimir Stadium side’s starting lineup. The goalkeeper also shone for his national side in the 2022 World Cup.
The 28-year-old is a key player for the Biscan’s team. However, the SuperSport HNL outfit are willing to part ways with him for around £10 million.

It remains to be seen whether De Gea will stay at United. If not, then the Red Devils’ priority will evidently be to sign a new number one before worrying about the backup.
