Ajax Amsterdam want £44 million for Manchester United target Jurrien Timber
Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam want around £44 million to part ways with Jurrien Timber amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Germany (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Holland international has expressed his intention to leave the Dutch outfit in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, De Godenzonen are ready to facilitate his exit if the price is right. Premier League rivals Liverpool also have the youngster on their radar.
In the 2020/21 season, the 21-year-old broke into the Amsterdam-based club’s first team. The centre-back established himself at the club when Erik ten Hag was in charge and has developed into a quality defender over the years.
United’s backline is stacked as things stand. However, next summer could see a reshuffle in our defence. Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe are all expected to depart.
For now, we have enough strength in depth in the centre-back positions. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been the gaffer’s preferred duo in the current campaign.
The France and Argentina international have formed an admirable partnership at the Old Trafford side. Apart from them, the Red Devils also have Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at their disposal.
But the two have lost their influence in the team since Ten Hag’s arrival. As a result, there are doubts regarding our skipper’s future at the club. The former Leicester City star could look for pastures new in the coming months.
Therefore, United would evidently need to bolster their backline in case of any departures in the upcoming transfer window. Timber is a decent option to have on our radar.
