Tyrell Malacia admits Erik ten Hag demanding with everyone at Manchester United

Manchester United full-back Tyrell Malacia has revealed that Erik ten Hag is a demanding manager and asks for the best from every player at the club.

The Dutch manager was appointed in the Old Trafford side’s dugout at the end of last season. Since then, the former Ajax head coach has managed to turn things around to a considerable extent at the Red Devils. We ended our six-year trophy drought after winning the Carabao Cup.

Speaking via Manchester Evening News, the former Feyenoord star was asked about Ten Hag being insistent. The left-back disclosed that the gaffer wants the team to attain silverware.

“Always, always. With everyone. So it’s a good thing because it keeps us sharp and you have to be on your A-game, especially because he said we are a big club so we need to win prizes, we have to be on our A-game.”

Malacia was the Dutch manager’s first signing in the summer of 2022 at United. The defender has been a backup to Luke Shaw for most of the season.

However, initially, the Holland international was being chosen ahead of the England international in the starting lineup. Subsequently, the former Southampton star has upped his game and become a pivotal player under the former Ajax head coach.

Ten Hag has instilled a similar competitive nature in other positions as well. At centre-back, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been first-choice. But with their injuries, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have made it into the team.

While our skipper has tried to give his best, the Sweden international has been the one who has been relied on in recent weeks.

As of late, Malacia has not been putting in the best of performances. While the 23-year-old brings tenacity and aggression to the team whenever he plays, the left-back has been found wanting defensively.
