Dean Henderson injury ‘may affect’ Manchester United summer transfer
Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest, is looking at three more months on the sidelines due to an injury, according to Manchester Evening News.
In January, it was thought he would miss four to six weeks after suffering a tear in his thigh. However, now, the England international is expected to be out of action until August.
The 26-year-old will return to the Old Trafford side from his temporary move at the end of the season. However, the extended lay-off ‘may affect’ the goalkeeper’s possible exit in the upcoming transfer window.
Henderson is tied down to the Red Devils until June 2025. We also have the option to extend his contract by a further year. However, with the Manchester-based club planning on selling players next summer, it remains to be seen what the future will hold for the shot-stopper.
The 26-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at Man United. After the English national’s successful loan spell with Sheffield United, the Red Devils opted to give him a first-team opportunity.
In the 2020/21 season, Henderson shared minutes with David de Gea. But in the previous campaign, the Spaniard pipped the English national in the pecking order.
Subsequently, the 26-year-old found game time hard to come by at United. He criticised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the same.
As things stand, De Gea is the only quality option at Erik ten Hag’s disposal in the goalkeeping department. However, the Red Devils and the 32-year-old have been in lengthy discussions regarding a new deal.

Henderson was playing well at Forest. The injury has hindered the shot-stopper’s development. If United are unable to part ways with him next summer, it would seemingly not be such a bad thing to have the English national in the squad.
