Manchester United target Axel Disasi set to leave AS Monaco in the summer transfer window
According to French outlet L’Equipe via Sport Witness (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United target Axel Disasi is set to leave his current club AS Monaco in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old French centre-back has been of interest to United of late and the club has already registered their interest in the player. With claims of the player seeking to change clubs, it is certainly good news for the club and its supporters.
While we have two very important and key centre halves in Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, missing one of them from the lineup, which has been the case on many occasions this summer, usually leads us to drop a level in our performance.
Victor Lindelöf has done well when called upon and one could argue that he could still be in the United dugout next season to provide good quality depth to the squad.
On the other hand, current club captain Harry Maguire’s career seem to have taken a new low with Lindelöf and makeshift defender Luke Shaw both looking more comfortable than at times when Maguire is starting.
It would be in the interest of all parties to concede that the move did not materialize as everyone had expected and now is the perfect time to part ways.
If Maguire does end up leaving, we would be short of good quality centre-halves with Erik Bailly also to be listed on the market while there are no signs of contract extensions to Phil Jones and Axel Tuenzebe.
Disasi, 25, could prove to be a very good option for the club with the French international possessing the skill set required to succeed in a Ten Hag team.

Valued at around £40m by Monaco and the player looking to leave the club, it should be a deal we should be all hands on and add a player of good quality to the squad.
The interest has been registered by the club and the player looks set to leave, now it remains to be seen whether the club would have the budget to oversee a deal for a defender with the search for a striker, midfielder and right-back seen as more urgent issues.
