PSG talks for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen rubbished

Victor Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, is not in talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over a transfer amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Nigeria international is on the radar of several European heavyweights like the Red Devils, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. However, the Parc des Princes side were said to be close to an agreement with the striker.

However, speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Metro), a source close to the 24-year-old has rubbished those claims. As things stand, it is too early to say anything about the forward’s future.

“Everything is false news. It is too early to talk about the transfer market.”

Osimhen has been in inspiring form for Napoli this season. The Nigerian is close to bringing the first Serie A title in over three decades to the Naples-based club. He has found the back of the net 26 times in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Partenopei in the current campaign.

PSG have an abundance of talent in their attack. Christophe Galtier’s team have the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lione Messi and Neymar in their ranks. However, over the last two years, the trio have been rather underwhelming collectively.

As for United, we lack options in the number nine position. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are the only two natural strikers at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.

Unfortunately, the French national has struggled with injuries in the current campaign and has been unavailable for the most part. On the other hand, the Burnley loanee has worked hard to cover in the absence of the former AS Monaco star, but he leaves a lot to be desired up front.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Osimhen in the team. The Nigerian has developed into a prolific goalscorer at Napoli. With PSG yet to make progress regarding his signature, United still have the opportunity to compete for the 24-year-old’s signature.
