Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy to play hardball for Manchester United target Harry Kane

Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, will play hardball regarding the transfer of Harry Kane amidst interest from Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils have the 29-year-old on their radar as their top target for next summer. As things stand, the Old Trafford side have already started initial talks regarding a move for the striker.

However, if the England international were to leave Spurs, Levy would make sure to squeeze out every penny to part ways with him. But it remains to be seen how things unfold, with the Manchester-based club not looking to partake in drawn-out negotiations.

Kane has been Tottenham’s talisman for some time now. The English skipper has led the North London side’s attack season after season. But even after establishing himself as one of the best players in the world, trophies have eluded the striker at Spurs.

The 29-year-old has several individual accolades to his name. Recently, the forward broke Jimmy Greaves’ record to become Tottenham’s leading goalscorer. He has also surpassed Wayne Rooney’s goal tally for the Three Lions.

In the current campaign, Kane has been the North London side’s only reliable attacker. Against United, the 29-year-old inspired Spurs’ comeback as they drew 2-2 on Thursday (27 April).

At the moment, Erik ten Hag has two natural strikers at his disposal in Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst. Unfortunately, the French national has been out on the sidelines for most of the campaign.

We signed the Holland international on loan from Burnley to provide cover for the former AS Monaco star in January. However, the 30-year-old has been underwhelming at the club.

Kane is a world-class number nine. We could evidently do with a player of the 29-year-old’s quality in the team. But will Levy be a stumbling block in our pursuit of the English skipper? Only time will tell.
