Alejandro Garnacho looking forward to Manchester United future after contract extension
Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho is excited about what the future will bring for him at the club after signing a contract extension.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal which will see him be tied down to the club until 2028. In the current campaign, the forward has broken onto the scene and made a place for himself in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, the Argentine expressed delight after committing his future with the Red Devils. The winger hoped to create more special moments during his time at the Old Trafford side.
“The manager and his coaching staff have helped me to improve in every way, and with their support, I am developing each day to help the team to be successful. I am relishing the future and can’t wait to create more special memories with this group, in front of our amazing supporters.”
Garnacho made his way to United in the summer of 2020 from Atletico Madrid. In the previous few seasons, the youngster thrived in the Red Devils’ youth sides.
However, initially, the former Ajax head coach did not seem to trust the 18-year-old. But slowly but surely, the forward has become a pivotal player for the Dutch manager.
The Argentine has put in some clutch performances for the Manchester-based club in the current campaign. His stoppage-time winner in the 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League caught a lot of people’s attention.
Since then, Garnacho has put in similar displays coming off the bench for United. Unfortunately, the youngster picked up an ankle injury last month and has been on the sidelines for some time now.
While the 18-year-old is not a starter for the Red Devils, Ten Hag has had faith to bring him off the bench regularly. Marcus Rashford has dominated the left-hand side of the Old Trafford side’s attack, but the Argentine has taken his chances as well when given the opportunity.
