Ryan Mason hoping for reaction from Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur interim head coach Ryan Mason is looking for a reaction from his team against Manchester United after their loss to Newcastle United.

Spurs lost 6-1 to the Magpies in their previous fixture, conceding five goals in the first 25 minutes. Next up, the North London side will welcome the Red Devils in the Premier League on Thursday (27 April).

Speaking to the media via talkSPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News), Mason is hoping that Tottenham will bounce back against the Old Trafford side after being humbled by Eddie Howe’s team.

“[We need] a reaction, absolutely a reaction.Sunday was disappointing for us. I would hope and expect a reaction from not only the players but everyone in the building and everyone involved in the club as well.”

Spurs are going through a rough patch at the moment. Last month, they parted ways with Antonio Conte. Subsequently, the Italian’s right-hand man Cristian Stellini was handed the reins.

However, after the abysmal loss to Newcastle, the 49-year-old left as well, leaving Mason in charge. The 31-year-old previously held the interim role at the North London side during the 2020/21 campaign.

Man United have enjoyed their trips to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the last few years. The Red Devils have won the last four away matches against the Lilywhites.

We are six points ahead of Spurs in the league table. The North London side have also played two more games than us. But still, a win would solidify our hold for a place in the top four.

The Old Trafford side are coming off some tough matches against Sevilla in the Europa League and Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup. Thankfully, we made it to the final after beating the Seagulls in the semi-finals on penalties.

However, a place in the top four is crucial to get Champions League football for next season. Hopefully, we will be able to see off Spurs comfortably and end the season on a high note.
