Brighton & Hove Albion expect interest in Manchester United target Alexis Mac Allister next summer

Paul Barber, the CEO of Brighton and Hove Albion, expects a lot of interest in Manchester United target Alexis Mac Allister in the upcoming transfer window.

Erik ten Hag is looking to add a midfielder to the Red Devils’ ranks next summer. To that end, the Argentina international has been linked with the Old Trafford side. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool also admire the 24-year-old.

Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News), Barber is unsure of what the summer will bring for the Seagulls. However, the Amex Stadium side’s CEO has not ruled out the exit of the East Sussex-based club’s big stars.

“What the summer brings, we don’t know and we do know that our best players are going to come under a lot of scrutiny and a lot of interest and we’ll manage that as we always do, if and when it happens.”

Mac Allister joined Brighton in the winter window of 2019. After spending some time out on loan, the Argentine continued his development with the Seagulls.

In the previous campaign, the 24-year-old established himself as a key player for the Amex Stadium side. This season, the midfielder has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays.

Mac Allister was key to Argentina’s World Cup win. In Qatar, Lionel Scaloni relied heavily on the 24-year-old in his midfield as La Albiceleste beat France in the final.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who signed for United last summer, have been imperative to Erik ten Hag’s plans in Manchester. But without the Brazil and Denmark internationals, the Red Devils have not been their best.

On the bench, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have been inconsistent over the years for the Old Trafford side. The January addition of Marcel Sabitzer helped us, but the Austrian is only on loan until the end of the campaign.

Mac Allister has proven himself in the English top flight at Brighton and was brilliant for them in their FA Cup semi-final loss against United. He has become a brilliant box-to-box star. Hopefully, the Red Devils will be able to acquire the Argentine’s services in the coming months.
