According to Daily Star, Manchester United have stepped up their interest in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the coming summer window.

The report reveals that United had another scouting trip to Italy last week to keep a close eye on the Nigerian international. They watched Napoli’s Champions League game against AC Milan last Wednesday.

There have been no talks of a new contract between Osimhen and the Italian side. His current deal expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). Part of the reason for no talks could be the interest from United. The Serie A leaders would be in favour of cashing him now.

Speaking to Sky Sports a few days ago, United boss Erik ten Hag made it clear that the club needs to sign a striker in the summer. The Dutchman explained that this team requires a striker who can finish off the chances created from both sides of the field.

The Red Devils have Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane on their radar as well. The Telegraph has reported that they are making the initial attempts to find out what will it take for them to sign the 29-year-old.

Kane’s contract at Spurs expires next summer. He does not want to sign an extension. It is up to United now whether to go hard at getting him or acquire Osimhen.

On current form, the latter has been could edge ahead with regard to what he has done this season. His goals (21 goals in 25 league games) are the key reason behind Napoli’s surge towards the Scudetto.
