AS Roma ‘interested’ in Manchester United target and Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans
Serie A giants AS Roma are ‘interested’ in Manchester United target and Leicester City star Youri Tielemans, according to Calciomercato via Fichajes.
The Italian outfit are making plans for the upcoming transfer window and have the Belgium international on their radar. At the moment, the Giallorossi want to build a team to convince Jose Mourinho to stay.
However, a number of teams are eyeing the signature of the midfielder. The 25-year-old’s current contract with the Foxes is set to expire at the end of the season, with the player not looking to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium side.
Roma are willing to offer Tielemans an important deal. However, with the likes of the Red Devils and Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the race for the midfielder’s signature, the Serie A giants know that their work is cut out for them.
The Belgian joined Leicester in the winter window of 2019 from AS Monaco. Subsequently, the 25-year-old has established himself as a quality player in the English top flight.
But the Foxes are going through a tough spell currently. The King Power Stadium side are in a relegation battle and are fighting to survive in the PL.
For Roma, Mourinho has done wonders at the club. The Giallorossi are fighting for a place in the top four this season and have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. Last summer, they were able to convince Paulo Dybala to join them as a free agent.
United signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer in the summer of 2022. The Denmark international has turned out to be an inspiring addition to the Red Devils’ engine room. However, the Old Trafford side seem to lack quality options on the bench.

Tielemans presents a great opportunity in the market. It is not always that a player of the Belgian’s quality is available for free. But will Roma rain on United’s parade and acquire the midfielder’s services? Only time will tell.
