Arsenal ‘set to win’ race for Manchester United target and Celta Vigo playmaker Gabri Veiga
Premier League rivals Arsenal look ‘set to win’ the race for Manchester United target and Celta Vigo playmaker Gabri Veiga, according to Spanish outlet AS (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The La Liga outfit are prepared to accept £35 million for the 20-year-old and the price tag would be enough to convince the Abanca-Balaídos side to part ways with him.
For some time now, Veiga has been linked with a move away from Celta. A number of Premier League sides, including the Red Devils, have the Spain U21 international on their radar.
Arsenal are also interested in the youngster. Edu, the North London side’s sporting director, is set to prioritise the addition of the playmaker to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Gunners are flying high in the current campaign. Martin Odegaard has been one of their talismans in the number 10 position. Last summer, they also signed Fabio Vieira from FC Porto.
Veiga has broken onto the scene this season. In 32 appearances in all competitions for Celta, the midfielder has found the back of the net nine times and has provided four assists.
United’s engine room was bolstered with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer of 2022. The two have formed an impressive trio with Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park for the Red Devils.
The Portugal international has been a pivotal player for Erik ten Hag since his arrival in the Old Trafford side’s dugout. In the current campaign, the Dutch manager has used the former Sporting CP star in various positions apart from the attacking midfield position.

Veiga is an up-and-coming superstar with immense potential. While United have a decent midfield, we could seemingly still use some more quality on the bench. However, it looks like Arsenal will pip the Red Devils to the 20-year-old’s signature.
