Manchester United holds talks with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong
Manchester United have ‘held talks’ with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong regarding a transfer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils are looking to get a new right-back next summer. Erik ten Hag likes the Holland international and wants the Old Trafford side to acquire his services.
At the moment, the 22-year-old is under contract at the Bundesliga outfit until the end of the 2024/25 season. However, for now, the full-back is calm about his future.
Frimpong made his way through the youth ranks at Premier League rivals Manchester City. Then, in the summer of 2019, the youngster made his way to Celtic.
After impressing in Scotland, Leverkusen came knocking for the defender’s signature in January 2021. The Holland international is thriving in Germany at the moment.
Since the appointment of Xabi Alonso in the Bay Arena side’s dugout, the 22-year-old has been in fine form. He has made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this season, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists.
At the moment, Ten Hag has Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot at his disposal. The Portuguese has been the first choice for the gaffer since his arrival in Manchester.
However, in recent weeks, the former Crystal Palace star has been handed a number of opportunities. But last year, the 25-year-old was made available for transfer. The Old Trafford side have also planned to sell Alex Telles and Brandon Williams next summer.

Therefore, if United part ways with Wan-Bissaka and the other full-backs, they will evidently need to add reinforcements. Frimpong is a young, attack-minded right-back with immense potential. But it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to get a hold of his signature in the coming months.
