Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford amongst quadruple Manchester United injury boost
Manchester United will welcome back a quartet from injury, including Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford, for the trip to Sevilla in the Europa League.
The two English nationals have missed the last few matches for the Red Devils. Other players include Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer, who did not play in our 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag confirmed the availability of the four players. However, it remains to be seen whether they will play a part in Seville.
“Yeah, available because that’s why they’re in the airplane but I will take my decisions tomorrow. Today, they are training, we will see what the reaction is and we will take the decision. We have all particular decisions.”
Shaw has been one of our best players in the current campaign. Initially, the 27-year-old had a rocky start under the former Ajax head coach. However, in the last few months, the England international has been pivotal to our success.
As for Rashford, he has shouldered the burden of United’s attack this season. The 25-year-old has been the only consistent goalscorer in the Red Devils’ ranks since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
Malacia signed for the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2022 from Feyenoord. At the start of the campaign, the 23-year-old head pipped Shaw in the pecking order. But the Holland international has mostly been used as a backup player by Ten Hag.
Sabitzer signed for United in the previous transfer window on loan from Bayern Munich. The Austrian’s addition to the squad was evidently crucial with the lack of options in the middle of the park for the gaffer. The 29-year-old has put in some impressive displays since.
United will face Sevilla on Thursday (20 April) at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The reverse fixture saw the Andalusian club make a comeback in the 2-2 draw after the Red Devils crumbled in the final minutes of the game.
