Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes on Manchester United radar
Matheus Nunes, who plays for Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves), is ‘on the radar’ of Manchester United, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Portugal international is on the Red Devils’ radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window. At the end of the season, Erik ten Hag will look to strengthen the Old Trafford side’s engine room.
To that end, the 24-year-old is on the Manchester-based club’s shortlist. However, Liverpool and Spanish giants Barcelona have also been linked with the midfielder.
Nunes made his way into Sporting CP’s first team a few years back. Subsequently, the 24-year-old became a key player for the Primeira Liga outfit.
Then, last summer, the Molineux Stadium side added to their large contingent of Portuguese talent with the midfielder’s signing. He has been pivotal for the West Midlands club in the current campaign.
Wolves have had a topsy-turvy season. The Molineux Stadium side parted ways with Bruno Lage and appointed Julen Lopetegui midway through the term. However, Nunes has been impressive, making 32 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
United’s midfield was strengthened with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer of 2022. However, in their absence in the current campaign, the Red Devils’ engine room has left a lot to be desired.
We signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich in January. The Austrian has been impressive for us. However, the 29-year-old is only at the Old Trafford side until the end of the season.

Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have been inconsistent over the years. Therefore, we could evidently do with more quality in the middle of the park. But will Nunes’ signature be pursued by United in the coming months? Only time will tell.
