Marcel Sabitzer ‘pushing’ for permanent Manchester United transfer
Manchester United star Marcel Sabitzer, who is on loan at the club from Bayern Munich, is ‘pushing’ for a permanent transfer to the Red Devils, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
In the previous transfer window, the Austria international joined the Old Trafford side on a temporary move until the end of the season. However, it looks like the midfielder has no intention of leaving Manchester.
The 28-year-old’s future in Germany is uncertain at the moment. As a result, United could have an opportunity to acquire his services next summer.
Sabitzer made a name for himself in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Then, in the summer of 2021, Bayern came calling for the midfielder’s signature.
However, the Austrian did not enjoy the best of spells at the Allianz Arena side. The 29-year-old was unable to cement his place in the Bavarians’ starting lineup and opted to join the Red Devils.
At that time, the Old Trafford side were without Christian Eriksen. The Denmark international has been a key player for us in the current campaign. Xasemiro has also picked up a few suspensions over the last few weeks.
Therefore, the addition of Sabitzer has been a wise one. He has mostly played in the double pivot under Erik ten Hag. However, the gaffer has also deployed the Austrian in the number 10 role, where he has thrived.
For now, the Dutch manager also has the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay at his disposal. However, the addition of the 29-year-old has added much-needed quality and depth to United’s midfield.
