David de Gea ‘unsatisfied’ with recent Manchester United contract offers
Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea has been ‘unsatisfied’ with the recent contract offers that have been made to him, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Spain international’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of the season. While the 32-year-old is ‘happy’ to stay at the Manchester-based club, the fresh terms that have been offered have not been to his liking.
United want De Gea to extend his stay. However, the Red Devils want the Spaniard to take a pay cut. As a result, the club are yet to reach an agreement with the shot-stopper over a new deal.
However, talks between the Old Trafford side and the 32-year-old are still continuing. The Manchester-based club do not want to lose the goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window for free.
De Gea signed for United in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid. Since then, he has been the number one at the Old Trafford side for more than a decade.
Dean Henderson’s return to the club saw the Spaniard fighting for his place in the starting lineup. However, the 32-year-old saw off the competition from the England international and regained his spot in between the sticks.
The shot-stopper has continued his fine form from last season under Erik ten Hag. But the Dutch manager is seemingly keen on his goalkeeper playing out from the back.
While De Gea leaves a lot to be desired in that department, the gaffer does not have a luxury of options in the goalkeeping department. Tom Heaton and Jack Butland are the other shot-stoppers at the former Ajax head coach’s disposal at the moment.

Therefore, for now, De Gea is evidently our best bet. Thus, it would be wise to tie the Spaniard down to a new contract as soon as possible.
