Jude Bellingham prefers Borussia Dortmund stay amidst Manchester United interest
Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham prefers to stay in Germany for another season amidst interest from Manchester United, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t The Sun].
The midfielder is open to staying at the Signal Iduna Park side until 2024. This is due to the fact that the 19-year-old does not want to push for a move that is not ‘absolutely right’ for him.
Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Liverpool had also been eyeing the youngster. However, the Merseyside outfit have pulled out of the race to sign the England international due to his price tag.
Also, along with the Old Trafford side, Chelsea admire Bellingham. Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also have the midfielder on their radar.
But BVB are keen on keeping hold of the 19-year-old. The Bundesliga giants are planning to offer the England international a new contract with a £131 million release clause.
Bellingham has developed into one of the best players since signing for Dortmund in the summer of 2020 from Birmingham City. In the last few months, the 19-year-old has also become a key player for Gareth Southgate.
United’s midfield was bolstered with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have been impressive under Erik ten Hag this season.
However, in their absence, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay leave a lot to be desired. The Red Devils’ quality in depth is not something to brag about. The Old Trafford side signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan in January to bolster the engine room.
