Brentford shot-stopper David Raya has ‘attracted interest’ from top clubs in Spain amidst links to Manchester United, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Sun].

Established teams in the goalkeeper’s native country are looking to acquire his services. Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur also have the 27-year-old on their radar. However, Thomas Frank has insisted that he would cost at least £40 million.

At the moment, Raya is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2024. The shot-stopper has rejected two new deals to extend his stay at the West London club.

As a result, sides in La Liga are eyeing the 27-year-old’s signature on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of next season.

Raya signed for Brentford in the summer of 2019 from Blackburn Rovers. After helping them get promoted to the English top flight, the goalkeeper has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays over the last two campaigns.

This season, the Bees are fighting for a place in a European competition. The 24-year-old has made 28 appearances in the PL for the West London club, keeping nine clean sheets.

At the moment, David de Gea is the first-choice shot-stopper at United. The Spain international has been Erik ten Hag’s go-to in the current campaign. Tom Heaton and Jack Butland are the two backing up the former Atletico Madrid star.

However, while the 32-year-old has made some impressive saves since the Dutch manager’s arrival, he has also shown some frailties. The goalkeeper has left a lot to be desired with his distribution.

Ten Hag is seemingly keen to play out from the back. De Gea has not lived up to the expectations in that regard. Therefore will Raya replace his compatriot at the Theatre of Dreams? Only time will tell.
