Manchester United winter target Sofyan Amrabat set to leave Fiorentina next summer

Sofyan Amrabat, whose signature Manchester United pursued in the previous transfer window, has been promised an exit from Fiorentina next summer.

Mohammed Sinouh, the Morocco international’s agent, has revealed that a number of clubs wanted to sign the midfielder in January, including the Red Devils. However, a deal did not materialise.

Speaking to Kora Plus via Sport Witness (h/t Metro), Amrabat’s representative has admitted that the Serie A outfit will not stand in the 26-year-old’s way if he decides to leave in the coming months.

“At the moment, we don’t have any offers for the exit of Sofyan Amrabat. But Fiorentina welcomes the player’s departure in the summer, especially after obtaining a promise from the club president to do so when he rejected the offers in the winter transfer period.”

The Morocco international has been at Fiorentina since the summer of 2020. Over the years, he has been a pivotal player for La Viola. However, the midfielder has caught a lot of people’s attention this season.

In the current campaign, Amrabat has made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Florence-based club. However, it was the 26-year-old’s displays for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup that impressed many.

The Atlas Lions made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament in Qatar, beating the likes of Spain and Portugal. However, Walid Regragui’s team could not get past France.

Last summer, United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Brazil international has been essential to Erik ten Hag’s success at the Old Trafford side. However, in his absence, the Red Devils seemingly lack bench strength.

In the number six position, Scott McTominay and Fred have been deployed over the years. However, the two have been inconsistent. With Casemiro suspended for the last few matches, the Manchester-based club have struggled to get going.

Therefore, we evidently need more quality in depth. However, it remains to be seen how much Fiorentina will demand next summer to part ways with Amrabat and whether United will pursue him once again.
